Hans Huigen

Hans Huigen (1965) founded H&dB AssociAtes, Public Affairs & Strategic Communications in 2008 together with Bas de Beijer.

Prior to starting his own consultancy he worked for 8 years at a leading Dutch energy company building and managing the Public Affairs department, also responsible for reputation and issues management. As Deputy Director Corporate Communications he was closely involved in all national and international merger and acquisition activities of this company.

Hans started his career at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, responsible for introducing regulatory impact assessments on proposals for new laws and regulations. In 1995 he was contracted by the OECD in Paris to be one of the authors on the first OECD wide Ministerial Report on Regulatory Management and Reform and he was responsible for the OECD programme for developing alternatives to command-and-control regulation. Upon his return to The Hague he was made responsible for leading the efforts of the new Cabinet to reduce the administrative burdens on business. His last position in government was co-ordinating, mainly based in Brussels, the Dutch position on all relevant internal market issues in the Internal Market Council under the direction of the Cabinet Minister responsible for the Internal Market.

Hans holds a Law degree from Utrecht University in The Netherlands and is a member of the "Koning Willem I Kring", a small society of public affairs directors of Dutch multinationals and a member of the Dutch Association for Public Affairs. On a regular basis he gives lectures on public affairs, reputation - and issues management.
